Meet The Company Beating Theme Parks At Their Own Game

Few industries are as offbeat as the theme park sector. It's a world where making artificial mountains and organising mass mobs of dancers dressed in period clothing is commonplace. So it's hard to see how expertise in the field could apply to other sectors but actually this couldn't be further from the truth. “The combination also creates an enhanced financial profile with strong cash flow generation to accelerate investments in our parks to delight our guests, driving increased levels of demand and in-park value and spending,” he said. While technically just outside Charlotte’s city limits, Frank Liske Park is a favorite of local families, especially those hosting family reunions or other large outdoor gatherings.

The theme park is also within 30 minutes of Gastonia and 45 minutes away from Concord and Kannapolis. Again, remember that in some cases, the minimum height is required for your child to enjoy these rides without an adult. Children also adore Camp Snoopy, a section of the park that’s dedicated to the classic television show, Peanuts. Some of he kid-friendly rides we mentioned are in this section, which is a nice one to walk through with your children. Both of these rollercoasters are short rides ranging from 3 to 5 minutes, but the lines can be long.

Savor the solitude at Park Road Park

The park also has six pools (one being a 27,000 ft wide wave pool), one lazy river, a kiddy fun water playset, and twenty-seven slides. Additional amenities include changing rooms, bathrooms, gift shops, and an eating area. Note that in some cases, the minimum height is required for your kids to enjoy these rides without an adult. The Dale Earnhardt Intimidator roller coaster falls shortly behind that record at 232 feet in height, 80 mph in speed, and a 74-degree drop.

Thrill Zone

The same goes if guests head up to one of the restaurants only to find that it's fully booked. The staff can find them if there's a cancelation before they get a table elsewhere. On other cruise liners guests would have to be contacted by cell phone which can come at quite a cost using satellite connections in the middle of an ocean. In short, as the MagicBand's popularity hadn't been proven when it was introduced, it wasn't integrated into the parks and Disney's MyMagic+ digital platform as widely as it could have been. "The other 50% of it was if I can individually recognize you, I can give you a personalized experience and a personalized experience is more valuable than a commodity experience so it's worth more." Not just for guests but for Disney too.

Thunder Road

"This is completely unique to Princess and it has become so synonymous with the Princess point of differentiation. Every cruise brand picks a point of differentiation with which to compete and Princess has become synonymous with personalised service at scale." Like the MagicBands, different bracelets can be bought for the Medallions and Padgett says that the look of the device itself can be "personalized to you based on you as an individual, whether you're in a military branch, your favorite pet, your favorite color, or all of those things." The Medallion even opens the door to their room as they walk up without needing to touch the handle. It even helps guests to get more shut eye as they don't have to be up when housekeeping come round.

Add a fun-filled day (or more!) to your collection of beloved family memories. Everyone will love looking back on fun times like those found at Carowinds. Like Fury 325, Intimidator is one of the top 10 tallest steel coasters in the country. This hypercoaster boasts seven drops, over three minutes of ride time, and speeds up to 80 mph.

Important Tips Before You Visit Carowinds

After waiting about another 20 min we decided to get dressed and leave, just in time for the park to open back up. It was a really nice park and if we lived near by we would definitely get season passes. Carowinds is an all-day adventure, and there’s always something to do within the park when you come or who you’ve brought! While you’re enjoying the thrills of those amazing roller coasters and rides, digging into food deals, and everything else the amusement park has to offer, we hope you used at least a few of our tips.

Where to Stay When Visiting Carowinds

Buying your tickets online ahead of time means convenience as well as savings. Because Carowinds has always prided itself as a family-friendly establishment, you’ll find kid-friendly rides around every corner. Spoiler alert, but we’ll share the more Kid-Friendly rides and Carolina Harbor Waterpark rides shortly.

Padgett says that it is different to the MagicBand tech in almost every way but what really makes the difference is the function of the sensors and receivers scattered around the ship. Wireless technology was moving so fast that by 2015, when Padgett began exploring the use of it on Princess' ships, he was able to develop a completely new cutting-edge platform for the cruise operator. A theme park executive might not sound like someone who could give a magic touch to a luxury cruise line but actually Padgett cast perhaps the most powerful spell on the company in its entire history. Padgett is probably the most important technology innovator in the modern era of Disney and over an 18-year career with the Mouse he rose through its ranks until he ultimately landed a role with the suitably imaginative title of head of game changer experience development. Located on the city’s west side, Hornets Nest Park has been a staple for Charlotte’s Black residents for decades. In the early ’90s, parades of cars could be seen joyriding down the main road and around the park on Sunday afternoons – a real sight to behold.

Exclusive to Carowinds theme park, Plants vs. Zombies™ Garden Warfare 3Z Arena is an interactive 3D attraction. Based on the popular video game franchise, riders choose their side—plants or zombies—and embark on a quest to find the golden gnome. If you know your child’s height, check the height restrictions on rides in advance. Then, you’ll know which rides your child can enjoy without wasting any time. Rides also have measurement signs outside the line queue for easy measuring. When visiting a theme park, you’ll need to be prepared to walk beneath hot sun rays all day long.

The Medallions are sent to guests in advance and come with a lanyard or they can be clipped to your shirt. All it takes to get onboard is tapping the Medallion on a receiver and showing your ID to staff. Indeed, when a colossus of one of the oldest industries on earth turned to a veteran of the theme park industry, it made such a splash that it transformed its entire business model. Lodging, convenience and fun come together at Camp Wilderness Resort. Our 55-acre, year-round facility for camping near Charlotte, NC, offers spacious RV sites, cozy cabins and creature comforts to keep everyone happy.

Finally, when using the app, you’ll notice limited-time offers appear without any notice, so keep an eye out! The app is also beneficial for carrying digital Carowinds food vouchers without printing them. The app also indicates the “Thrill Level” of all the rides at Carowinds, based on a 1 to 5 scale. Add food to your fun with all day or all season dining plans or quench your thirst with single day or all season drink refills. There is always something new at Carowinds with one-of-a-kind special events to celebrate each season of fun. The proposal also shows that all one-ticket rides would be free on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Annual events include the Halloween-themed S-Carowinds and the Christmas-themed WinterFest. Adventure seekers across the country flock to our award-winning thrill rides, including Fury 325, the world's tallest and fastest giga coaster. Experience rides and attractions that keep the fun going all day long. I am posting this as a mom of teenagers that like walk around by themselves.I appreciate the many different areas the park has. I enjoy walking around and seeing all the different plants, artwork, exhibits and landscaping.

And the variety of the various exhibits/artwork is beautiful. There is lots of seating around the park, plenty with shade. Even some rocking chairs scattered around throughout. All of the gift shops have a variety of items, they aren't all the same thing. Makes for an enjoyable experience walking around and seeing a new store to browse through.I do wish that in their app, they would clarify what restaurants/rides are closed. Two restaurants that I tried to go to were closed, although the app and Google Maps showed them as open. And a few rides that I'm excited to try have been closed each time I've visited. All in all, a nice experience, even if you are just at the park for your kids to ride the rides. Aeronautica Landing, the centerpiece of Carowinds' 50th anniversary celebration, pays tribute to the Carolinas' spirit of invention and the history of flight.

Just off the 7th Street Public Market light-rail stop is First Ward Park, a pristine 4.6-acre green space surrounded by the city’s skyscrapers. Although one of Charlotte’s newest parks, it holds its own against classics like Freedom Park and Romare Bearden Park. Kids can ride their first roller coaster on the Woodstock Express and Lucy’s Crabbie Cabbie. Or, for the daredevil child, the Flying Ace Aerial Chase coaster dangles riders beneath the track for a one-of-a-kind (but still kid-friendly) thrill.

To capture and collect these amazing experiences, you can purchase the FunPix pass, a package for photos taken during rides and experiences throughout the day. Before you enter the amusement park, we highly recommend you download the free Carowinds app. One last thing before we share all the things we love about Carowinds is more facts and the park’s history. Since the park is shared by the town of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and is the only amusement park shared by two states.
